OKEECHOBEE – The Okeechobee County Commission welcomed new Veterans Services Officer Paul Hiott at their March 28 meeting.

Hiott was previously the county’s VSO in 1996. Hiott said “it is an honor and a privilege” to serve veterans in Okeechobee.

He is accredited with both the state and federal government and will be ready to start helping local veterans on Monday.

“I’ve already made contact with American Legion and VFW personnel,” he said.

In related busines, commissioners noted there will be breakfast for veterans in Flager Park at 8 a.m. on Friday, March 29.

The breakfast, in recognition of National Vietnam War Veterans Day, is courtesy of Our Village, Joani's Exchange and Thank You For Your Service.
