In celebration of National Camping Month in June, Kampgrounds of America, Inc. (KOA) has released research illustrating top travel trends specific to Gulf South travelers. Gulf South travelers are prioritizing water-based experiences for physical and mental well-being, along with a desire to slow down, savor the moment, and discover experiences close to home.

“Southerners have a unique appreciation for living fully,” said Diane Eichler, senior vice president of marketing at KOA. “Our deep dive into the Camping and Outdoor Hospitality Report results for the Gulf South states confirmed what we’ve long appreciated about travelers in this region: they enjoy time spent in nature, surrounded by water, with nearly 60% of respondents citing that water-based experiences improve their mental well-being. These trends come to life throughout our Gulf South campgrounds, where campers can find lakeside cabins, beachside RV or tent sites, pools, and water-based activities like paddleboarding, fishing, swimming, and more.”
