OKEECHOBEE COUNTY — The following column is the Road Watch report for Okeechobee County for the week beginning Sunday, Nov. 26 provided by the Florida Department of Transportation.
Motorists are reminded to wear safety belts and drive with caution, courtesy, common sense, and patience as they travel through work zones. Remember, speeding fines are doubled in work zones.
• SR 70 at SE 10th Avenue (Driveway permit project): Crews are re-constructing sidewalks and modifying utilities. Watch for workers close to and in the roadway.
• SE 28th Street (Charles Harvey Boulevard) from US 441 to SE 18th Terrace (Construction project): Crews will make improvements to SE 28th Street from US 441 to SE 18th Terrace. Improvements include construction of sidewalks on the north side of SE 28th Street (Charles Harvey Boulevard). Crews will also reconstruct the roadway and driveways in various locations, improve drainage, and install signs and pavement markings.
Please use caution in the area and watch for workers in the construction zone. Estimated completion is fall 2023.
• US 98 from north of NW 80th Avenue to SR 70 (Construction project): Crews will resurface the roadway on US 98 from north of NW 80th Avenue to US 98. Additional work includes shoulder treatments, roadway reconstruction at the railroad, sidewalk, traffic signals and signing and pavement markers.
Please use caution in the area and watch for workers in the construction zone. Estimated completion is fall 2023.
• SR 710 from Interceptor Creek to north of SE 67th Way (Construction project): Crews will resurface SR 710 from Interceptor Creek to north of SE 67th Way, replace guardrail and install signing and pavement markings. During construction there may be daytime and nighttime lane closures on SR 710.
