OKEECHOBEE -- A Mental Health Awareness Luncheon is planned May 6 at the Okeechobee Civic Center.
At their March 24 meeting, the Okeechobee County Commission waived the fees for the use of the Civic Center on May 6, for a mental health awareness luncheon, at the request of Leah Suarez of Our Village.
“People’s opinion about mental health is in the eye of the beholder,” Suarez said. She said the luncheon will share information with community leaders during National Mental Health Awareness Month.
