OKEECHOBEE- Jenna Larson was recognized by the Okeechobee County School Board on Aug. 9 for her achievements with the FFA this year.
Larson was elected state secretary of Florida’s FFA in May. Jenna also was the winner of the FFA’s extemporaneous speaking, Agriscience state winner division 5, and state Dairy Proficiency finalist.
Considering she won an award from the FFA for public speaking, superintendent Ken Kenworthy asked Jenna to speak after presenting her with a certificate on behalf of the school board.
“It’s not a school board meeting unless Mr. Kenworthy surprises me by asking me to speak”, said Larson, which got laughs from those in attendance at the meeting. “Being a state officer is something that carries a great responsibility. In the last couple weeks we had the opportunity to spend time in Gainesville where we planned out a great portion of our year as state officers.”
One of the events planned for the Florida FFA officers includes a possible trip to Australia in the next year.
Larson previously earned a national championship with John Williamson at the 2021 National FFA Agriscience Fair.
Brady Williamson was recognized by the Okeechobee County School Board for being named the state winner in Agriscience division 3. Brady’s project involved investigating the effects of citrus green.
Williamson was also part of a group of Okeechobee FFA members who won third place in Conduct of Chapter Meetings. That team consisted of Williamson, Lillie Bandi, Sophia Caves, AJ Davis, Matthew May, Rachel Thompson, and Rebekah Thompson.
