OKEECHOBEE — It’s been five years since Kelley Sherman disappeared, five years since she kissed her children goodnight, five years since she visited her dad on the weekend, five years since she called her sisters to tell them she loved them.
It was Mothers’ Day 2020 when Kelley was last seen in the 600 block of Northeast Park Street. Detectives have exhausted every lead but have not given up. Okeechobee City Police Detective Brand Drapal is now in charge of the case and said, “I am actively working this case and am deeply invested in finding answers for this family. I am going through the entire case and nearly five years of investigative information. I am investigating any new leads if and when they come in and am determined to do all that I can for Kelley and her loved ones.”
A mom with two young children, Kelley was always known as a family-oriented person. Before her disappearance, she spoke to her father and sisters regularly. According to her family, she would never leave town without letting them know where she was going.
Kelley’s dad, cousins and children live in Okeechobee and have not heard anything from her in the five years she has been gone.
Not only did Kelley always let her family and friends know when she would be out of town, but she was also active on social media, but no one has heard from her in five years, no one at all.
Kelley’s sister Amber said, “We love her and miss her. I wish someone would come forward with the right information so we can bring her home. Five years of not knowing what happened to her or where she is has been so hard on our family.”
Detectives have run into problems because those with information are sometimes afraid to give them the information. Sometimes they have warrants themselves and don’t want to talk to the police, because they are afraid that they will be arrested, BUT you can call and give the police the information anonymously.
