PORT ST. LUCIE – The Indian River State College Foundation successfully concluded its 2025 Promise Cup Golf Tournament on Friday, May 16, raising $85,000 to support the Indian River State College Promise Program. The event, held at the PGA Golf Club at PGA Village in Port St. Lucie, attracted 120 participants who came together for a day of exceptional golf and charitable giving to help provide tuition-free associate degrees to students across Martin, St. Lucie, Indian River, and Okeechobee counties.
"We are thrilled with the tremendous success of this year's Promise Cup," said Ryan C. Abernethy, Chair of the Foundation's Board of Directors. "The generous support from our sponsors and participants will enable us to expand the reach of the Promise Program, which has already positively impacted the lives of thousands in our four counties by making college education accessible regardless of financial constraints."
Several players demonstrated exceptional skill throughout the tournament:
"The continued success of our Promise Program reflects the unwavering commitment of our community partners and the bold vision we share for accessible education,” said Dr. Timothy E. Moore, President of Indian River State College. “I am profoundly grateful to everyone who participated in this year's Promise Cup. Your generosity directly empowers students across our four-county region to pursue their educational aspirations without the burden of tuition costs. By investing in these young minds today, you are transforming lives and helping build a stronger, more skilled workforce for our region."
The Indian River State College Promise Program represents a transformative commitment to educational access and economic mobility in our region. This initiative covers tuition and fees for eligible high school graduates, removing financial barriers that often prevent talented students from pursuing higher education. By investing in local talent, the Indian River State College Promise Program strengthens our workforce pipeline, addresses skills gaps in high-demand industries, and creates pathways to prosperity for families across our service area. College officials report significant increases in enrollment and retention rates since the program's inception, demonstrating its immediate impact on both individual lives and the broader community's economic vitality.
"The Promise Cup represents more than just a day on the golf course," added Annabel Robertson, Vice President of Institutional Advancement at the Indian River State College Foundation. "Every swing helps remove financial barriers to higher education for students across our four-county region. The Promise Program has already transformed thousands of local lives, and with each sponsorship and participant in this event, we expand our ability to offer tuition-free associate degrees to students who might otherwise miss their chance at higher education."
The Indian River State College Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charity, supports Indian River State College initiatives including funding the Promise Program and offering over 1600 scholarships each year through donations and endowments.
