FORT BASINGER — The Okeechobee Historical Society in conjunction with the Heritage Association of Highlands County will once again be holding the Heritage Festival on April 12 and 13 on the grounds of the Edna Pearce Lockett Estate located on the corner of Hwy 98 N and State Road 721 in Fort Basinger.
This year is the 150th anniversary of the homestead, so we invite you to come out to the festival to learn more about Edna Pearce Lockett, the Pearce Family and the affiliated counties.
Tours of the home and one room school house are offered, musical entertainment, food trucks, kids activities, demonstrations of period appropriate activities, craft booths, and much more will fill the two days. On Sunday morning, Cowboy Church will be offered beginning at 11 am.
For an additional charge, boat rides on the FAU pontoon boat out to the Kissimmee Restoration area will be offered.
Admission is $10 per vehicle and the gates are open from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. both days.
