Four arrested: 20 pounds of Psilocybin mushrooms and 8.5 pounds of marijuana confiscated

OKEECHOBEE — Four persons were arrested and 20 pounds of Psilocybin mushrooms and 8.5 pounds of marijuana confiscated in Okeechobee County on March 30.

On March 30, Stay Lifted Events held the second public Canna-Carnivale marijuana event at the Okeechobee Big “O” Flea Market at 3600 U.S. Hwy 441 South.

Before the event, the Okeechobee Narcotics Task Force had received intelligence of vendors at the event selling recreational cannabinoids to the public without Medical Marijuana cards/prescriptions.

The Okeechobee County Narcotics Task Force conducted an undercover operation to determine the identity of the parties involved and the possible illegal sale of cannabinoids.

While the undercovers were inside the event, it was discovered that several vendors were selling Psilocybin mushrooms, which is a Schedule 1 controlled substance.

Undercovers purchased the Psilocybin mushrooms from four  different vendors, including Choi Chan, 43, Gah Wong, 47, Shiann Dennis, 22, and Lance Harris, 31.

All four individuals were arrested and charged with the sale of Psilocybin.

Additionally, Lance Harris was found to have 8.5 pounds (in packaging ready to be sold) of marijuana in his possession.

In total, the Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office seized approximately 20 pounds of Psilocybin mushrooms and 8.5 pounds of Marijuana from within the event.

Undercover deputies bought products from several additional vendors that were being sold as THC products.

However, it was later discovered that many of these products had no THC content and were not labeled or sold as Medical Marijuana as required by Florida Statute. Additionally, those products did not contain any THC.

If you have a medical need, get a State of Florida license to purchase medical Marijuana in Okeechobee County legally.
