Football around the lake this week: Sept. 15

Posted

The Okeechobee Brahmans secured their third consecutive win and are 3-0 this season while the Pahokee Blue Devils and Moore Haven Terriers both won last week to go to 2-1. Which teams will keep that momentum going this week?

  • Okeechobee Brahmans (3-0)

The Okeechobee Brahmans continued their great start this season with a 48-0 win over Ambassador Christian Academy on Sept. 8. Ni’marion Bryant and Christon Requeina each had multiple touchdowns in the rout by Okeechobee. The Brahman defense shutout their opponent for the third straight game. Andre Santiago recorded three sacks on the night, and now  leads the team with seven through three games. Santana Alvarez and Tyrone Hayes also both secured interceptions. This week Okeechobee is home hosting the South Fork Bulldogs on a Thursday night game on Sept. 14 at 7 p.m.

  • Moore Haven Terriers (2-1)

The Moore Haven Terriers continued to improve with a 40-20 win over Westminster Christian last week. The Terriers racked up over 200 rushing yards. This week the Terriers are on a road trip, and it’s just a little longer than their average road trip. Moore Haven is headed out of state to Georgia to take on the Appling County Pirates on Sept. 15 7:30 p.m.

  • Pahokee Blue Devils (2-1)

The Pahokee Blue Devils followed up their win over Inlet Grove with a dominating 43-0 win over Palm Beach Lakes last week. Henry Boyd had two rushing touchdowns for Pahokee while the Blue Devils defense had 12 tackles for loss, five sacks, a forced fumble and an interception.  This week Pahokee plays on Thursday, Sept. 14, and will host the Palm Beach Central Broncos at 6:30 p.m.

  • Clewiston Tigers (1-0)

The Clewiston Tigers missed their week two game due to inclement weather, and were on a bye last week. After what had to feel like an eternity for the Tigers, they’re finally back on the field this week. Clewiston is on the road taking on the Calvary Christian Academy Eagles on Sept. 15. The Eagles and Tigers have had some dramatic games in recent years, with Clewiston winning in 2021, and Calvary winning in 2022. This year’s rematch promises to be just as thrilling. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

  • Glades Central Raiders (0-2)

The Glades Central Raiders are another team that is hosting a Thursday night game this week. The Raiders are hosting the 1-2 Palm Beach Gardens Gators. The Gators lost the first two games of the season to Vero Beach and Atlantic, but bounced back with a win over Dwyer last week. The Raiders and Gators kick off at 6:30 p.m.

  • Glades Day Gators (0-2)

The Glades Day Gators are looking for their first win, after falling 0-2 with losses to Somerset Academy and Jupiter Christian. The Gators were on a bye last week, but this week they’re back hosting the Marco Island Academy Rays on Sept. 15.
