Father and son team win fishing tournament

CLEWISTON – Qualifier #2 of the 2025 Roland Martin Marine Center Series presented by HUK was a big deal. So much so, the May 10 weigh-in was sounding a lot like an episode of Oprah with M.C. Peanut shouting from the stage, “You get a big bass! You get a big bass. YOU GET A BIG BASS!”

The second qualifier of the 2025 Season featured the top 32 teams bringing 20-pounds plus to the stage. And it seemed everyone had an Okeechobee kicker to add to the celebration. In fact, 81 of the 97-team field brought a limit of Okeechobee bass to the stage.

After the final bag was weighed, it was the father and son team of Keith and Caleb White that claimed victory. And with 30.12 pounds, they received the coveted RMMC Series Dirty-30 Hat along with the winning check for $5,000.

“We caught our big ones on bluegill beds,” Keith said. “And the big 8.99 bass ate a swim jig with a Big Easy on it.”

Caleb wasn’t just cheering on his dad either. He contributed three to the winning bag. His bait of choice was a Zoom Speed Worm in June Bug.

So along with their winning check, they also collected $150 in Bruiser Bucks for the Mega Bag of the event. And their 8.99 kicker was the biggest bass of the event, giving them another $500 from U.S. Sugar.

With less than a pound behind the leaders, the team of Hunter Ward and Barrett Ringstaff brought 29.26 pounds to the stage for second place a check for $2,200.

Rounding out the top three was the powerhouse team of Scott Martin and Kane Weekley. Their 28.07 pounds gave them the third place finish and a payday of $1,400.

As the highest paying team tournament trail in Florida, the payouts continued deep into the field.

The highest finisher to cross the stage in HUK GEAR earned Kyle Barbosa and CJ $250. The highest finishing Mercury owner earned Tony Bennett $250. 2nd Big Bass of 8.77 pounds belonged to Dennis Sprayberry earning him $100 Gambler Bucks. Barrett Ringstaff collected $250 as the highest finishing Gilbert Chevrolet owner. Coming in as the highest Youth and Lady Angler, Aubrey King took home a new pair of Bajio Sunglasses. And winning big for going small, the team of Alonzo and Alana Cunnington turned the smallest limit of 7.08 pounds into $300 from AV Inspection.

It was a definite big-bass-athon for the 2nd Qualifier of the 2025 Season. If you missed it, check out the Gallery and Final Weigh-in to see for yourself. And we’re just getting started. Be sure to join us as we turn up the heat all season long leading up to the Championship where the winning team could possibly take home a record $50,000. The next qualifier is June 21.
