OKEECHOBEE — The Okeechobee County Government proudly reports significant strides made in April 2025, focusing on the well-being of our youth, veterans, and senior citizens. County Administrator Deborah Manzo highlighted key achievements and ongoing initiatives aimed at enhancing community services.

The Okeechobee County Library welcomed 11,086 visitors last month, reflecting a growing interest in educational and recreational resources.  Nearly 7,000 items were checked out from and 1,988 individuals participated in events like yoga and story time

In Parks and Recreation, the Youth Soccer Program saw 415 participants actively engaging in sports and teamwork. We are also proud to announce that 9 individuals graduated from the lifeguard training program, preparing them to work at the pool this summer and ensuring the safety of our community's aquatic facilities.

The UF/IFAS Agricultural Extension Services collaborated with the Sharp Shooters 4H Club to organize a successful lake cleanup, fostering stewardship of our natural resources and community involvement.

Okeechobee’s Veterans Services Office continues to make a meaningful impact, meeting with 192 veterans, filing 56 claims, and transporting 24 veterans to the VA Medical Center in West Palm Beach. These efforts reflect our commitment to supporting those who have served our country.

Senior Services made 872 in-home visits and delivered 1,738 meals to seniors in our community, ensuring they receive essential support and care.

County Administrator Deborah Manzo stated, “Our April initiatives demonstrate our unwavering commitment to the health and well-being of our community members. From providing books for children and supporting our veterans, to reaching out to our seniors, Okeechobee County is dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of all our residents.”
