OKEECHOBEE — The city of Okeechobee finance department passed its audit with flying colors this year. The audit was done by Carr, Riggs & Ingram and presented to the city council by Lindsey Aviles.

Aviles explained the audit was on the year ending on Sept. 30, 2024 and could not be done until the pension actuary sends its evaluation. After this, the pension auditor must complete an audit so everything can be included in the city’s audit.

More information about the audit can be found on the city's website https://www.cityofokeechobee.com/

She said the audit was clean, and the city’s assets exceeded its liabilities on Sept. 30, 2024, by $26,241,146. Total revenues for that year were $9,738,315. Expenses were $7,002,785 which resulted in an increase of $2,735,530.

Okeechobee City Council meetings are open to the public. They are held in council chambers on the second floor of City Hall on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 6 p.m.
