The program involves building and racing a Formula E vehicle. FPL donated the frame for the vehicle and offered a class in Sebring on how to build the vehicles. FPL gave each team the frame and all the material needed to build the car. Anything after that is the responsibility of the team, explained Jason Anderson, who is the club mentor.
Right now, the frame is being powder-coated by Highlands Powder Coating of Sebring, and then they will begin building which takes 40-60 hours to complete. Highlands Powder Coating donated their services to help the team get started.
The club has about 10 participants, both boys and girls from freshman to senior.
The team is preparing for a race in Miami on April 11-12 on the Homestead-Miami Speedway.
FPL answers some frequently asked questions on their flyer. The number one question normally asked is, “What is Formula E?” Their answer is, Formula E is a single-seater motorsport world championship that races in iconic cities across the world. But we are more than just a racing series – we are racing for the future. Through all-electric racing, we showcase the potential of sustainable mobility and strive to make a positive impact on every community we touch. In every city we visit, we are committed to creating lasting change through events like Inspiration Hour.

In April, the teams will have the opportunity to test their skills in Faormula E racing simulators, gain access to pit teams and garages, viewing the race cars up close and watch the cars in action as they hit the track for the first time.
The teams will have the opportunity to practice on the track before the competition begins.
Not only will there be racing, but there will be fun activities for the whole family, with visits to the Fan Village and live music.
