MARIANNA- The Chobee 8U All-Stars are coming back from a trip to the state tournament with a runners-up trophy.
The journey to the state tournament began back on June 18 when the 8U All-Stars won the district tournament with a thrilling 13-12 win over Avon Park in the championship game.
That championship win punched their ticket to Marianna in north Florida for the state tournament on July 1. Chobee played the hometown Marianna team in the first round of the tournament, securing a dominating 21-3 victory.
The next day Chobee fell just short 12-11 against Sebring. But they bounced back with a 21-4 win over Chipley in the next round. Next the 8U All-Stars beat Port St Joe 25-13, which set them up with Sebring.
Sebring jumped out to a 13-7 lead by the bottom of the sixth inning. But Chobee rallied and came back to defeat Sebring and advance to the next round. In the state championship the 8U All-Stars fought hard against a good Spring Hill team, ultimatley taking home the runners-up tropphy.
Korbin Koedam, Cale Ferrell, Gannon Kamykowski, Racey Buckner, Oakley Stalhut, Samuel Tijerina, Kayde Adams, Jay Zeller, Landon Weir, Brayson Suarez, and Keagan Leiva represented Okeechobee well as the 8U All-Stars. The team was coached by Saul Tijerina, Jessie Ferrell, Mark Weir, and Kyle Buckner.
