property management business in Okeechobee, Fla., with her son Neal. After attending the University of Florida, Cass started a family and Monogram Reality in Orlando, Fla., the first of several business she would operate or own. She was a woman of reinvention. When business or the economy struggled she found new paths, becoming a landscapist and finding work in Homestead, Fla., after Hurricane Andrew, becoming a private cook to make ends meet, and eventually custom home building. She loved the purpose that work, whatever kind of work it was, brought to her.
Cass also loved to travel, whether it involved exploring the hills of Vermont by bike, experiencing how fireflies illuminate the woods of Tennessee, or traversing Route 66 to its inevitable end at the Pacific Ocean. She loved a book and a strong cup of coffee, black. She loved her dogs, the great many strays and rescues she welcomed into her home throughout her life.
Cass is survived by her sisters Carolyn Wilson, and Corinne (Manuel) Barboza, and niece Jennifer Grant; three sons, Will Stanley Long, Neal Stanley Long, and Drew Stanley (Trisha) Long; her grandchildren Alexzandria, Savannah, and Dylan; and her great grandchildren Carson Fausto, Raelynn Sue, and Brylee Lynn. She is also survived by her dogs, Punkin and Pogo.
She was preceded in death by her husbands JD Hembree and Glenn Stanley Long.
If you would like to make a donation in her memory, the family suggests donating to your local animal rescue or Friends of the Public Library. A memorial will be held at a later date and time.
