The Weekly Clothesline: Pentecost…the deepest of love

Posted

This past Sunday we celebrated Pentecost, the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the apostles, how they were filled with the love of God and were on fire to preach the Gospel to whomever would listen. Pentecost could be considered the final act of love from Jesus Himself.

It’s hard to believe that the God who moves the winds knows every breath you take. The Creator of the universe has counted every hair on your head. This God knows everything about you; nothing in your life is a secret from Him. Why should this be important? Because I know what you’re thinking at this very moment…You’re questioning how such a magnificent God, who knows all your faults could possibly love you that much. But He does! He created you. He knew what your mistakes and shortcomings would be, and he loves you beyond them all. A passage from the prophet Jeremiah says: “You are loved with an everlasting love.” You were created in the image and likeness of God. You are a temple of the Holy Spirit. If you ever feel that you are unlovable, remember that Jesus gave his life so that you would live forever. Can you even imagine the deep, deep love our God has for His people?

As we begin the very long season of Pentecost, be reminded of what you have been given. You have been blessed beyond your understanding. Therefore, you can’t possibly forget…the deep, deep love your God has for you!
