Are you ready to “Gear Up” for summer? With school officially out, we are hopeful that our students will want to spend some time reading and continue their learning at home using online resources. To help, Collier County Public Schools (CCPS) will be launching Gear Up for Next School Year.

The Gear Up program will be available June 15-July 16 and will offer summer learning activities designed to sustain student learning during the summer months and prepare students for next school year. These engaging, instructional activities have been developed for grades K-8 and high school courses in English Language Arts (ELA) and mathematics. Access to the Gear Up program will be available through Canvas (the same platform students have been using throughout CCPS eLearns).

Participation in Gear Up is optional and students will work independently at their own pace on these non-graded assignments. Information on the program may be found at www.collierschools.com/gearup. We hope your child will choose to participate!

In addition, the Collier County Public Library (CCPL) will be offering a number of resources to help your child remain engaged and reading this summer. Enjoy story time through Collier Kids Read by visiting CCPL’s Facebook page (@colliercountylibrary) Monday through Friday at 10:00 a.m. Not on Facebook? No problem! The Education Channel (channel 99 on Comcast, CenturyLink, and Summit Broadband) will replay the story time videos each weekday at 10:00 a.m.

CCPL also offers a Summer Reading Program where students use a reading log to earn a chance to win prizes. More information on CCPL’s Summer Reading Program may be found at www.collierlibrary.org/kids-teens.

Whatever activity you choose, it can only work to benefit your child and prepare them for the school year ahead. We wish our #CCPSFamily a wonderful summer and look forward to the start of another fabulous school year in August!
