I am a lifelong resident of LaBelle. I attended the LaBelle School system from elementary school through high school graduation in 1991. My wife Jessica and I have been happily married for over twenty five years and have two sons. Justin Phillips also remains in the community working for the family owned HVAC business. He is a proud home owner in Hendry County as well. Our other son, Jared and his wife Lindsey also are home owners that reside in Hendry County. Jared is employed in the family HVAC business. Both boys were raised in Hendry County and graduated from the LaBelle Schools system.
I worked in Hendry County right out of high school for local processing plants, then shortly after went to work in the HVAC industry. I served as the Operations Manager for The State of Florida Department of Transportation Maintenance Department in LaBelle for four years. This job offered me the experience of traveling the State of Florida while administering statewide contracts for disaster relief, requiring me to have direct supervision over 120 employees. The four years of employment with The State of Florida Department of Transportation was during the years of 2002 to 2006, which were the worst hurricane seasons most of us can remember. I then decided to redirect my efforts and received my Class A State of Florida Contractor license in the HVAC industry. I started our local family owned air conditioning business, Phillips A/C & Heating Services. My wife Jessica and I have been successfully running this company for over ten years. I feel proud and blessed to work every day with my wife and sons to service the community in which we all live, work and love.
I have the dedication and drive to serve the people, while remaining fair but yet can be pugnacious to get things accomplished. My third grade teacher, Frances Gates, taught me the meaning of the poem “The Road Not Taken” by Robert Frost.
This has consistently driven me over the years to take that road “less traveled by and that has made all the difference” as the poem states.
I am running for election as a Republican candidate for the District 3 county commission seat. As an elected commissioner for Hendry County I want to promote positive productivity to our county employees while delivering top service with pride for the hard-earned taxes being paid on a conservative balanced budget.
I hope to make Hendry County the place we all want to live, shop, worship, conduct business and raise our families in while feeling safe and proud to call our home.
I feel it is the responsibility of the Hendry County Commission to conduct its day-to-day business just like private industry, where every last dollar is accounted for and protected for the benefit of those whose money is being spent.
I ask for your support in this election to promote Hendry County for future positive growth to lead its residents to a better future for us and our children. You can contact me at my campaign email Shonephillipshelp@gmail.com or 863 673-0920.
