FORT MYERS – The Boston Red Sox are proud to announce a partnership with Family Initiative, Inc. through the addition of the nonprofit’s Mobile Sensory Trailer that will be present at the team’s home games at JetBlue Park.

The Sensory Trailer is uniquely equipped to provide children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) a calming environment during varying situations. Inside the trailer, children will find sensory toys, bean bag cushions, games, air conditioning and WiFi. Certified clinicians, specially trained to support families with special needs, staff the trailer to ensure both children and parents are cared for.

The trailer will be located on the 3rd base concourse where it backs up to the white fence and is very visible. Additionally, Family Initiative will have a table set up at each game to help spread awareness and offer support to fans that might need additional resources.

Family Initiative is dedicated to supporting children, adolescents and young adults diagnosed with ASD and began deploying this sensory trailer, the nation’s first-of-its-kind, to provide essential aid to families affected by both Hurricane Helene and Milton.

“We are grateful to the Red Sox for partnering with us to bring this mobile resource to families who want to share the joy of baseball with their families, but also understand there could be a need for a safe space during the exhibition,” said David Brown, president and co-founder of Family Initiative, Inc.

“We are thankful to Family Initiative and are honored to be part of bringing this important resource to all our fans for spring training,” said Shawn H. P. Smith, general manager, Florida Operations and JetBlue Park at Fenway South. “Our goal is for everyone to have a positive experience while they are at JetBlue Park and that includes our neurodivergent guests.”
