After coming up just short of a World Championship in 2024, the Florida Freedom, the Sunshine State’s only professional bull riding team, are determined that this will be the season they ride supreme.
The Freedom relocated to Florida at the start of the 2024 season, and the sun and sand proved magic for the team as they went 2-1 at their inaugural homestand before finishing the season No. 4 in the league. The Florida Freedom are led by PBR Hall of Famer Paulo Crimber. In a dynamic rarely seen in professional sports, Crimber’s lineup is headlined by his son, teenage phenom and reigning PBR Teams MVP John Crimber. At just 19 years of age, Crimber has been a force since making his debut amongst the professional ranks. In individual competition he has been a contender for a World Championship during both of his active seasons to date, and after being the No. 1 Draft pick in 2024, led the Florida Freedom in his first teams season.
The Crimbers are joined by an all-star lineup of riders, including 40-year-old veteran Joao Ricardo Vieira. Vieira, who has qualified for the World Finals 13 times, joined the Freedom in the offseason. Vieira makes his way to the Freedom after being a three-year member of the Texas Rattlers, who he helped win the Teams Championship in 2022.
The complete roster also includes Brazilian sensations Joao Lucas Campos, Alex Cerqueira, Yan Victor Cunhas, Elizmar Jeremias and Thiago Salgado.
Before the PBR Teams season begins on July 11 in Oklahoma, the Florida Freedom will hold their official training camp in South Florida from July 2-5. Throughout the initial days, the Freedom will participate in various workouts and community outreach activities across the greater Miami area, before travelling to nearby Moore Haven for an open practice on July 5. During the practice at Bronson Arena, the team will attempt practice bulls as they gear up for the new season.
