Ohio woman killed in multi-vehicle crash on SR 80

ALVA – A four vehicle accident on State Road 80 near Alva resulted in the death of an Eastlake, Ohio woman, on Sept. 18, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) report.

The accident occurred at 9:09 a.m. on State Road 80 at Owanita Road in Lee County according to the FHP.

Vehicle 1 was a sports utility vehicle (SUV) driven by a 33-year-old LaBelle woman.

Vehicle 2 was a sedan, driven by a 47-year-old woman of Eastlake, Ohio.

Vehicle 3 was a sedan,  driven by a 32-year-old Labelle woman.

Vehicle 4 was a semi-truck driven by a 46-year-old Miami man.

The FHP report states:

Vehicle 1 (SUV) was traveling east on State Road 80, east of Sunset Trail.

Vehicle 2 (sedan)  was traveling east on State Road 80, east of Sunset Trail, directly in front of Vehicle 1.

Vehicle 3,  (sedan) was traveling east on State Road 80, east of Sunset Trail, directly in front of Vehicle 2.

Vehicle 4 (semi) was traveling west on State Road 80, in the inside lane.

The front of Vehicle 1 (SUV) collided with the rear of Vehicle 2 (sedan).

Post collision, Vehicle 1 rotated and the rear of Vehicle 1 collided with the rear Vehicle 3. Post collision, Vehicle 2 crossed the grass median and rotated onto the westbound lanes of State Road 80, into the direct path of Vehicle 4. The front of Vehicle 4 collided with the right side of Vehicle 2. Driver 2 was pronounced deceased on scene.

The driver of Vehicle 1 received minor injuries. The drivers of Vehicle 3 and Vehicle 4 were not injured.

The crash remains under investigation.
