LABELLE — On May 16, LaBelle Elementary School’s 5th grade students had the opportunity to visit Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU). It was a great way for them to end the week after working so hard on their state testing! The students were split into three teams with three rotations each. They had an engineering rotation with Legos where they had to work as a team of an engineer, a construction manager, and a builder. They also had a medical rotation where they were able to learn some PT skills, draw a heart while learning how it works, listen to a lung simulator, and learned how to find each other’s pulses. The final rotation was an environmental one where they learned about the Florida Panther and completed a scavenger hunt worksheet as they researched facts. They were completely engaged the entire time! LES is so happy they were able to experience this trip to inspire them to think outside the box. The staff and students who helped were so kind and welcoming. For more photos visit facebook.com/LaBelleElementary/ [Photo courtesy LaBelle Elementary School]
