IMMOKALEE – A woman and a 2-year-old child were killed after the car they were riding in went into a lake in Immokalee, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Florida Highway Patrol reports a single vehicle crash into a lake on Crestview Drive/Laurel Lane in Immokalee Monday, Oct. 23 at 9:55 p.m. Two passengers were transported to an area hospital and later pronounced dead. The driver was not injured.
According to the FHP report, the driver was a 39-year-old Immokalee man. Passengers were a 27-year-old Immokalee woman and a 2-year-old Immokalee boy.
The FHP report states, a sedan was parked in a parking space in the parking lot of 725 Crestview Drive, facing east. The vehicle accelerated east and the undercarriage of the car collided with a parking space barrier. The car continued onto the grass shoulder, entered a lake and became submerged. Post collision, a female adult passenger and male child passenger were transported to an area hospital and later pronounced deceased.
This crash is still under investigation.
