Some Free Summer Events

With school finished for the summer, students are left to find things to entertain themselves. While there are many local events that are low cost, over the course of the summer, these events could add up and end up costing a small fortune. However, there are several free events around the county.

First, the local library has Summer Reading programs for kids of all ages. These programs are not like the reading programs in school, they are designed to be fun and encourage children to read. Participants can win prizes and be entered in a drawing after reading a certain number of books.

Another event is Kids Summer Movies. Depending on the theater, these movies run at least twice a week and are either free or cost a dollar. Check your local theater to see their movie schedule. Since these movies have been popular for the past several decades, it is important to get there early to guarantee a seat.

For those of you that want to stay in shape during the summer, The Naples Runners club sponsors its annual Runner’s Camp for children 5 – 14. This is another free event and besides encouraging students to developing their running skills, by running the 100, 200, 400, 800, and the mile, participants are shown how to throw a shot put and do the long jump.

Also, besides these three events, there are numerous free concerts and other events around the community. To find these, look under Free events in Collier county.
