Meet one of Southwest Florida’s newest children’s books authors, Lori M. Snell. Lori Snell’s two children’s books: Eduardo Had a Grape Math Day and Something’s Fishy About Subtraction, were just released and already they are flying off the shelves. Lori Snell is a second grade teacher at Pinecrest Elementary School (Immokalee). She has a love for children and learning. She saw that every subject had lots of stories that could accompany the various lessons, except for math. Knowing the importance of integrating math and literacy, she decided to write math centered stories for first and second grade students, that also promote hands-on learning. Her vibrantly illustrated, multi-cultural books are perfect for first through third grade students. These books were specifically written to be used as Read Alouds (stories that are read to students) for first and beginning of second grade students. Most end-of-year second grade students and all third-grade students, should be able to read these books, independently. This new author, who also serves as the senior pastor of Allen Chapel A.M.E Church in Immokalee, FL, has writing fever. She recently submitted her third children’s book and hopes to have it released in about 5 months. She is also working on a series of pictorial, math vocabulary books for first through second grade students. She desires to get a free copy of her newly released books into the hands of every second grade student in Immokalee. You can purchase these educational books through her web site: Boldsteps4Him.com. If you would like to contact Mrs. Snell or look into sponsoring books for a student, school or classroom, you can E-mail her at Boldsteps4Him@yahoo.com.
