MOORE HAVEN — A 22-year-old Moore Haven man was arrested last week after he allegedly threatened to shoot a woman and her grandson.
According to the arrest report, Ja’keem Williams was arrested April 27 by Glades County Sheriff’s Deputies D. Eppers and J. Ponce at approximately 8:30 p.m. The victim called 911 after Williams came to her door and tried to enter. She told him he could not come in because he had a history of selling drugs and causing problems. She told him she was living there now and had rented the home from his grandmother. She continued, telling the deputies that he said he was coming in because the house belongs to his grandmother. “I’m not staying with you. You are staying with me,” he reportedly said.
The woman told the deputies Williams became aggravated and cursed at her telling her he was going to come back and shoot her and her grandson. She said she called Williams’ grandmother for help and asked her to come over. When the grandmother arrived, she told Williams that he could not stay there because she rented the house to the victim.
Williams reportedly left, but the woman said she went ahead and called 911 because Williams was outside her house the previous night carrying two rifles and a pistol. This caused her to believe his threats might be real.
While Deputy Ponce spoke with the victim, Deputy Eppers found Williams, who allegedly refused to provide any ID and walked away from the deputy. He was then arrested without incident and charged with two counts aggravated assault with intent to commit a felony and obstruction of justice.
