MOORE HAVEN- The Moore Haven Lady Terrier varsity softball team celebrated their senior night on April 16.
Before their game against the Glades Day Lady Gators, the Lady Terriers held a ceremony honoring the squad’s lone senior this year, Preslynn Baker.
Baker has hit five homeruns for the Lady Terriers this season and leads the team in RBIs with 24. She leads the Lady Terriers in doubles and is second on the team in hits and stolen bases. Baker is a multi-sport athlete and played a crucial role in Moore Haven volleyball’s first every district and regional championship this year.
Moore Haven went on to defeat Glades Day 18-1, with Baker and Brooklyn Sergent leading the team with three hits and 3 RBIs each. The Lady Terriers followed that victory up with a dominating win over the Clewiston Lady Tigers on April 21.
Baker had a homerun in that win while JoEllen Erskin led the team with three hits and 4 RBIs. Erskin hit a double and a triple against Clewiston. Neska Blissett and Truley Osceola each had 3 RBIs and two doubles.
Next the Lady Terriers are preparing to play in the opening round of the district playoffs. Moore Haven is hosting the Marathon Lady Dolphins on April 29. The winner of that game will advance to the district championship where they’ll face either Glades Day or Fort Meade on April 30.
