MOORE HAVEN- The Moore Haven Lady Terriers softball team has a 9-5 record headed into their rematch against district foe the Glades Day Lady Gators on April 16.
Moore Haven defeated Glades Day earlier this season in a 12-0 shutout back on March 11. Sophomore Charisma Micco and freshman Brooklyn Sergent led the Lady Terriers with three hits and 2 RBIs each in that win.
Micco’s aggressive base running also paid off against Glades Day, as the sophomore had also had four stolen bases. Micco got the start on the mound for the Lady Terriers as well, striking out 12 batters in 6 innings and allowing only two hits.
Moore Haven opened the season with a tough 11-8 loss to the Vero Beach Lady Indians. But they bounced back and defeated Vero Beach 7-1 on April 4. Senior Preslynn Baker had two homeruns, a double, and 4 RBIs on the night.
Moore Haven finished last season 15-10 and were one of the elite eight teams in the region after back-to-back wins in the 2A regional playoffs. The Lady Terriers upset the number two seed, the Admiral Farragut Lady Blue Jackets, 10-4 in the regional quarterfinal.
Then in last year’s regional semifinal, the Lady Terriers defeated the Seacrest Country Day Lady Stingrays 16-9.
The Lady Terriers and Lady Gators faceoff in Moore Haven at 6 p.m. on April 16.
