Engineers play a crucial role in the district’s mission

Posted

In recognition of Engineers Week, the South Florida Water Management District (District) is recognizing our talented team of engineers who work year-round to advance the District's public service mission.

DID YOU KNOW: District engineers help design and construct Everglades restoration, water management infrastructure, and resiliency projects that benefit Central and Southern Florida’s environment and protect our natural resources?

FROM BLUEPRINTS TO BENEFITS: From design and construction, to technical analysis, to coordination and management support, District engineers work to advance key projects that support ecosystem restoration efforts, provide water to Central and Southern Florida's communities and help keep communities dry.

EXPERTISE IN ACTION: Working from Orlando to the Florida Keys, District engineers are making a difference for our environment and more than nine million residents of Central and Southern Florida. Their work includes:

  • Restoration, water resources and flood control projects for the benefit of the people and the environment.
  • Hardening infrastructure throughout Central and Southern Florida to advance the District's resiliency initiatives.
  • Optimizing water management infrastructure repairs and enhancements to ensure the regional system continues to operate smoothly and efficiently to protect local communities.
  • Advancing key projects that provide important water quality benefits.
  • Ensuring projects stay on schedule.
  • Conducting technical analyses and background reviews, coordinating with stakeholders, and providing management support for large and complex projects across the region.
  • And much more.
