CLEWISTON- The Clewiston Tigers varsity baseball team secured a season sweep against the Glades Day Gators on March 12. 

The Tigers defeated Glades Day 10-0, with William Bussott leading the team with three hits and 4 RBIs. Rocco Mann got the start on the mound for Clewiston, striking out six batters in four innings and allowing only three hits. 

Back on Feb. 10 the Tigers scored their first victory over the Gators, winning 14-1. Mann struck out eight batters and allowed only three hits and one run over four innings in that game. While Mann helped keep the Gators off the scoreboard, the Tiger offense racked up runs. Sophomore Jackson Mann led Clewiston with three RBIs followed by senior Cayson Holman with two. 

The Tigers followed up that dominating performance with a victory over IMG Academy on Feb. 12. Clewiston took an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning thanks to an RBI single by Jackson Mann. IMG tied things back up 1-1 in the top of the third inning, but in the bottom of the third Sebastian Aragus hit an RBI single to put the Tigers up 2-1. 

Clewiston has an 8-2 record so far this season. They’ve won games over Pahokee, Cypress Lakes, Hardee, and Glades Central. Both of their losses this year, to Sebring and LaBelle, were only by one run. 

The Tigers will have a chance to replay LaBelle again though. Clewiston hosts the Cowboys on March 24.
