LABELLE -- Hendry County announced on its website that funds for Housing Assistance are available from the State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP) Program. Funding for fiscal year 2021/2022 through fiscal year 2022/2023 has been allocated from SHIP. Funds will be made available for first-time homebuyers’ assistance.
Hendry County will be hosting two homeowner orientations to explain the program details and answer questions applicants may have. The first homeowner orientation will be conducted on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at 5:30 p.m. at the Hendry County Extension Office, located at 1085 Pratt Blvd., in LaBelle.
The second homeowner orientation will be conducted on Thursday, May 11, at 5:30 p.m. at the Hendry County Annex Offices, Janet B. Taylor Auditorium located at 1100 S. Olympia Avenue, in Clewiston. Please limit the number of individuals per household to two. Individual applications for first-time homebuyers’ assistance will be available beginning on Monday, May 15, through Wednesday, June 14, or until funds are expended. The applications will be available on the Hendry County website at www.hendryfla.net. Contact Hendry County Housing at 863-675-5297 or Sabrina.Gadson@hendryfla.net for more information. SHIP funds cannot be used to purchase a mobile home.
The application period is for thirty (30) days, beginning Monday, May 15, or until all funds have been expended. Applications will be available on the Hendry County’s website at www.hendryfla.net. All applications must be received by the Housing Department at 133 N. Bridge Street, LaBelle, or 1100 S. Olympia Street, Clewiston, by 4 p.m. on Wednesday, June 14. Applications can be mailed to Hendry County Housing, Attn: Sabrina Gadson at P. O. Box 2340, LaBelle, Florida, 33975.
All SHIP assistance recipients must agree to comply with all SHIP Program criteria and requirements as set forth in Chapter 67-37, Florida Administrative Code and are frequently modified and amended. The Hendry County Board of County Commissioners reserves the right to close any program application period by Board resolution. Hendry County SHIP programs do not discriminate against any person on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, marital status, familial status, disability, age or any other protected classes.
