Okeechobee Waterway Route 2 is closed for navigation

Located in central and southern Florida, the 451,000 acre lake and 154 mile long waterway extends from the Atlantic Ocean at Stuart, to the Gulf of Mexico at Fort Meyers. The waterway runs through Lake Okeechobee and consists of the Caloosahatchee River to the west of the lake and the St. Lucie Canal east of the lake.

BELLE GLADE — Torrey Island Bridge operations is reporting that with changes in the weather the vegetation in the channel at Torrey Island has returned and boats are being turned away. Unfortunately, Notice to Navigation 2023-09, Okeechobee Waterway - Route 2 closed due to vegetation in the channel at Torrey Island, is reinstated.
