LABELLE – During their May 27 meeting, the Hendry County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) approved a bid of $230,000 for the rotating beacon and tower project at Airglades Airport.
Alen Construction Group, Inc. was the low bidder.
Staff is anticipating grants from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). There is no guarantee that grant agreements will be given. If no grant is received, then the project will not move forward.
According to the staff report, the engineer’s estimate from AECOM was $242,000. Bids ranged from $230,000 to $292,500.
Alen Construction Group, Inc.’s bid was $12,000 below the engineer’s estimate.
Alen Construction Group, Inc. has not done work for Hendry County; however, they have completed a variety of similar projects as described in this bid for other counties, municipalities, and developments in the region.
