CLEWISTON — The Clewiston Christian School hosted the local Elks Hoop Shoot on Dec. 13, 2023. The contest is the first step for Boys and Girls ages 8-13 to compete in district, regional, and state competitions. State winners compete in the Elks National Hoop Shoot in Chicago, Illinois.
The local winners included:
• Boys U8-9: 1st place winner Carter Combass, 2nd place Adam Ryder and 3rd place Kysyn Upchurch.
• Girls U8-9: 1st place winner Sienna Smith, 2nd place Krista Paige and third place Samantha Rodriguez. Sienna Smith made 9 out of 25 shots.
• Boys U10-11: 1st place winner Aiden Combass, 2nd place Payslee Atkinson, 3rd place Kingston Hill and 4th place winner Maddex Palladino. Maddex Palladino made 10 of 25 free throws but lost in a tiebreaker 2-1 and placed 4th.
• Girls U10-11: 1st place winner Makinly Spooner
• Boys U12-13: 1st place winner Rainer Robbins, 2nd place Dylan Quintana and 3rd place Jovan Drummonad.
• Girls U12-13: 1st place winner Rachel Gonzalez. Rachel Gonzalez made 13 of 25 free throws
First Place winners will compete in the Elks Southeast District Hoop Shoot on Jan. 13 in West Palm Beach.
