Jorge E. Soto, 45, was arrested May 21 by Hendry County Sheriff’s Detective Sgt. Darrin McNeil. According to information released by the HCSO, a warrant for Soto’s arrest was issued on May 21, and Soto was contacted and asked to turn himself in. When he did not arrive at the specified time, the detective drove to Soto’s residence and placed him under arrest.
The warrant lists the charge as obscene communication and further description notes “use computer to seduce, solicit, lure child.”
Bond was set at $5,000, and Soto was released on the same day.
The city of Clewiston released the following statement regarding the arrest:
“The City of Clewiston is aware of the recent arrest involving Mr. Jorge E. Soto, III. We understand that this situation has understandably raised questions and concerns within our community. Mr. Soto, III, is no longer employed by the City of Clewiston.”
The offense/offenses were said to have happened on one or more occasions between May 31, 2023 and January 1, 2024.
The statement released by the city concludes, stating:
“Given the ongoing legal proceedings, and out of respect for all parties involved, the city will not be providing further comments. We ask that our community keep everyone involved in their thoughts and prayers as the judicial process moves forward.”
As of June 2, 2025, the Hendry Clerk’s website lists Soto as “under pre-trial supervision.” his attorney is Daniel Garza.
